ANARCHY BOOKS PRESS RELEASE

Saturday 19th November is a date for your diaries, with Anarchy Books releasing not one wholesome SF novel, but two!

First comes New York Nights by SF Heavyweight, Eric Brown.

Now, only VR offers the chance to bring her back. The future may yet allow Hal to live in the past - if he can survive his next job..."

Described by Peter F. Hamilton as "the name to watch in SF", and Brown's novel HELIX described by Stephen Baxter as, "a classic concept - a built world to dwarf Rama and Ringworld - a setting for a hugely imaginative adventure. Helix is the very DNA of true sf. This is the rediscovery of wonder", this first digital release of New York Nights is available as a PDF, EPUB or MOBI format, for the low price of £1.99. Artwork by Jethro Lentle. Check out www.anarchy-books.com.

The second “SF Saturday” release emerges from the crazy imagination of famous tattoo artist Dan Henk. The Black Seas of Infinity is Dan Henk’s debut novel, and what a powerhouse of action SF it is!

“Visions of pulp era heroes fill his thoughts. Taking advanced physics, he dreams big, but harsh reality bites as he grows up, and he resigns himself to building surveillance drones for the military. After a brief probative period, he’s unexpectedly moved into the clandestine world of investigating crashed alien craft. Fascinated beyond anything he thought possible, it’s a dream come true but his lack of social skills get him fired. However, he's seen too much – and a year later returns to pull off a bloody heist... Fleeing into the woods with the military in hot pursuit, he makes a mad scramble up the coast. It’s only then he discovers the world has grown strange. Businesses are closed. Highways deserted. The US has become fractured... Trigger happy locals and violent militias are only the beginning. Death, madness, and the unwelcome return of creatures from beyond this world await...”
Think X-Files crossed with Alastair Reynolds and you’ll begin to get a picture of where Dan’s stunning original SF writing will lead you...

PRESS RELEASE: Zombies of the World by Ross Payton

For immediate release

Zombies of the World: A Field Guide to the Undead
The first definitive scientific and historical guide to the many species of zombies

Zombies menace humanity, yet we barely understand them. There are treatises that show you how to kill the undead but this is the first study to explain the importance of zombies.  Zombies of the World reveals the undead to be a valuable part of our ecosystem and the key to new discoveries in medicine and technology. No other book covers these topics. No other book covers these topics. Most lump all the undead into one horde of identical ghouls, but Zombies of the World brilliantly documents how evolution has led to a wide variety of species. Few outside the scientific community even realize that creatures like the Egyptian Mummy (Mortifera mumia  aegyptus) are actually zombies. Some species are even harmless to humans. The Dancing Zombie (Mortifera immortalis choreographicus) only seeks to thrill humans with elaborate dance routines. Destroying the undead isn’t always the answer.

Even if we could annihilate all zombies, we would lose knowledge potentially vital to our own survival. After decades of research, we have no idea why zombies never tire or stop. They possess an endless source of energy to shamble or (in some cases) sprint after us. Unlocking this mystery could benefit all humanity. Only Zombies of the World tackles this issue and many other paradoxes. This ground-breaking book describes:

  • 20 prominent zombie species with scientific names, habits and range
  • 60 full color illustrations of zombies, historical documents and the undead in action
  • Project RESURRECTIONIST, the U.S. Government’s secret zombie research program
  • The mystery of the zombie’s animating force and what we have learned about it
  • How to deal with the greatest threat in a zombie attack: other human survivors
  • Theories of zombie evolution and migration
  • Cutting edge technology to harness clean renewable energy from the undead
  • The world’s only sign language program to communicate with an Egyptian Mummy
  • A historical perspective of humanity’s interaction with the undead
  • Longevity research aided by studying the secrets of the zombie
Learn the truth behind the undead now before it’s too late!

PRESS RELEASE: Redheart by Jackie Gamber

Jackie Gamber's Redheart Cover Art and Illustrations Revealed

Seventh Star Press is proud to unveil the cover art and illustrations to

Redheart, Book One of the Leland Dragon Series, from Mary Shelley Award
winning author Jackie Gamber.

The first installment of the exciting new YA fantasy series is slated for
release on April 19th.  The cover art and illustrations were created by
Matthew Perry, whose artwork appears on the covers and interiors of other
Seventh Star Press authors such as Steven Shrewsbury and Stephen Zimmer.

A pre-ordering window is now open for readers interested in a limited
edition hardcover of Redheart, which features an illustration created
especially for that version.  There is also a pre-order offer for the
regular trade paperback edition.  Both of the pre-order offers include
packages of bonus materials, ranging from 14X20 posters of one of the
illustrations, to a set of four 5X7 glossy prints.

Redheart invites readers into the lands of Leland Province, where dragon
and human societies have long dwelled side by side. Superstitions rise
sharply, as a severe drought strips the land of its bounty, providing
fertile ground for the darker ambitions of Fordon Blackclaw, Dragon
Council Leader, who seeks to subdue humans or wipe them off the face of
the land.

As the shadow of danger creeps across Leland Province, a young dragon
named Kallon Redheart, who has turned his back on dragons and humans
alike, comes into an unexpected friendship. Riza Diantus is a young woman
whose dreams can no longer be contained by the narrow confines of her
village, and when she finds herself in peril, Kallon is the only one with
the power to save her. Yet to do so means he must confront his past, and
embrace a future he stopped believing in.

A tale of friendship, courage, and ultimate destiny, Redheart invites
readers to a wondrous journey through the Leland Dragon Series.

Redheart will ultimately be available in trade paperback, hardcover, and a
variety of eBook editions.

Sela, Book Two of the series, is targeted for a third quarter release in
2011, with Book Three scheduled for mid-2012 release in all of the
aforementioned formats.

Stormdancer, Jay Kristoff's Debut Novel

Today, in a press release, Tor UK officially announced the acquisition of the rights of Stormdancer and two subsequent books in the series.

Kristoff's debut novel looks very promising, especially for the fans of far eastern fantasy settings. Here's the official press release:

Press Release – Wednesday 16th February 2011
STORMDANCER, a debut novel by Jay Kristoff, acquired by Julie Crisp at Tor UK

Tor UK, an imprint of Pan Macmillan, has acquired World English rights for Stormdancer and two subsequent books in the series in association with Pete Wolverton at Thomas Dunne Books, an imprint of St Martins Press in the US, from agent Matt Bialer at Sanford J. Greenburger Associates.

Stormdancer is a dystopian fantasy set in steampunk feudal Japan and follows Yukiko and her warrior father who are sent on an impossible mission to capture a legendary Thunder Tiger – a griffin. But an accident means Yukiko finds herself stranded: a young woman alone in her country's last wilderness, with only a furious, broken-winged griffin for company. Even though she can hear his thoughts, and even though she saved his life, all she knows for certain is that he’d rather see her dead than help her.

Meanwhile, the country around them is on the brink of collapse. A toxic poppy-based fuel is slowly killing the land; the omnipotent, metal-clad Guild is publicly burning those that they deem Impure; and the Shogun cares about nothing but his own power.

In hopes of saving her country – and herself, Yukiko must earn the griffin’s trust to become a symbol to her people; a myth, a legend – a Stormdancer.

Julie Crisp, editorial director at Tor UK, said ‘This is an incredibly imaginative and well-executed fantasy. Think Across the Nightingale Floor and Eragon mixed with steampunk, strong original characters and fast-paced action. It’s a wonderful read that everyone in-house fell in love with. So we’re thrilled that Jay will be joining the Tor UK team’.

Tor UK will be looking to publish Stormdancer in 2012.

Press Release-Dragon's Ark by Thomas Burchfield

THEY SAY HE DIED IN THE LAND BEYOND THE FOREST . . . BUT THEY WERE WRONG

For a century, Dracula--the Prince of Nightmares, the Superman of Evil--has been quietly casting his dark and impish dreams over the sleeping souls of a High Sierra community who only know him as the eccentric recluse who lives under the forbidding peak known as Dragon’s Ark. But now, facing a modern world intent on washing away the shadows of his enchanting but haunted world, the Vampire King gives life to a dying woman and ensnares her in a grim and ruthless struggle with greedy resort developers over the future of his mountain kingdom.

Dragon’s Ark is a weird, thrilling, and violent tale of supernatural power, intrigue, betrayal, and surreal bloody revenge that follows a fabulous legend’s bizarre and bloodthirsty quest to preserve his life and power against the unforgiving, dreamless light of the 21st century.

"Thomas Burchfield is a world-class master of suspense and makes a heavy statement on the blood-sucking exploitation that goes on all around us. Dracula not only lives in our world, he is our world. With a language clear and beautiful as a sunset, Burchfield leads you down the path of darkness"--John Ivan-Palmerauthor of Motels of Burning Madness.

PRESS RELEASE: Gary McMahon and Sharon Ring sign author/agent contract

Announced late on 8th December 2010:

Gary McMahon has signed up with Literary Agent Sharon Ring. Sharon Ring will act as agent in regard to two titles, The Quiet Room and Rain Dogs (previously published by Humdrumming Press).

Gary is widely acknowledged as a powerful, new talent in British horror fiction. He received a British Fantasy Society nomination in 2009 for his first novel, Rain Dogs, and his short fiction has appeared in numerous anthologies, including The Mammoth Book of Best New Horror Vols. 19 & 20 (ed. by Stephen Jones).

Tim Lebbon calls him a “bloody good writer indeed... heartfelt, talented, soulful... serious and mature.”

Conrad Williams describes Gary as “a skilful writer... an able cartographer of these badlands.” With three novels already under his belt, plus three more titles scheduled for publication in 2011, Gary is set to reach a wider genre-loving audience.

Gary McMahon said, “I’m very excited about this new collaboration. Sharon is an ambitious, knowledgeable and proactive person, who believes strongly in both my work and her own abilities to make things happen. Her passion for dark literature, along with the contacts and know-how she has developed over the last couple of years, will hopefully place us in a good position to take things forward and bring my writing to an even wider audience.”

Sharon said, “I’ve been working toward taking on my first author as a literary agent for some time now. I wanted to make sure my first client was a perfect fit. An opportunity arose to work with Gary McMahon on two titles and I knew the time was right. Gary is one of the most talented horror fiction authors on the scene, breathtakingly astute in his vision of the modern world and the fears which lie at the heart of us all, and completely unafraid to venture into the darkest of territories. It’s a privilege to be working with him at this time in his career.”

A full list of Gary’s published work can be found at http://www.garymcmahon.com/2008/04/publications.html

Press Release-Stephen Zimmer's Dream of Legends

For Immediate Release
November 23, 2010

Seventh Star Press is proud to announce the release of DREAM OF LEGENDS,
the second book in the epic fantasy Fires in Eden Series from Stephen
Zimmer.

Now available for pre-order in a specially priced limited edition
hardcover and trade paperback, DREAM OF LEGENDS continues the adventures
begun in CROWN OF VENGEANCE, when it was released in fall of 2009.

DREAM OF LEGENDS journeys forward with several characters from the modern
world, who discover that finding themselves in the fantastical lands of
Ave was just the beginning.  The assault upon the Kingdom of Saxany and
the tribes of the Five Realms ignites, as the eyes of The Unifier turn
southward, across the seas towards faraway Midragard.  Within this
maelstrom, some find themselves on a path of discovery, to uncover powers
that lie within, while others must brave perilous journeys, to seek out
the things said to exist only in the faded mists of myth and legend.  Epic
battles, plot twists, and new environments abound in DREAM OF LEGENDS.

Book Two of the Fires in Eden Series, DREAM OF LEGENDS is immersive, epic
fantasy, for those who love to explore richly developed fantasy worlds
alongside an ensemble of intriguing, diverse characters.  Readers of the
great epic fantasy authors such as Robert Jordan, George R.R. Martin, and
J.R.R. Tolkien will find a wondrous trove of adventure, characters, and
depth in this next step of the Fires in Eden series.

Working with Stephen for the first time, and taking on the editorial reins
of the Fires in Eden Series to keep the dedicated yearly release schedule
on course, was Karen Leet.

"Working with Stephen has been a joy. He is totally professional about his
work, meets deadlines and edits cheerfully," Karen commented.  "He makes
editing easy for me, and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know his
characters, who now seem to me like actual people with genuine depth. His
plotlines stride across the pages on swift, sure feet and sweep the reader
along with them."

“Having Karen as my editor on DREAM OF LEGENDS was a wonderful experience.
She did a meticulous analysis of Crown of Vengeance to ensure full
continuity of tone and style with the new book.  I am fortunate to be
working with two excellent editors on my two series.  The new book is
loaded with action, and there are some very big revelations in regards to
the full series,” Stephen said.  “DREAM OF LEGENDS builds strongly upon
the foundation set in place by Crown of Vengeance, keeping storylines
tight while introducing many new and exciting elements.  I am confident
that readers who enjoyed the first book are going to be elated with this
new installment of the series.”

Continuing one of the most extensive collaborations between an artist and
an author in the fantasy sphere, a brand new set of illustrations and
cover art were created for DREAM OF LEGENDS by fantasy artist Matthew
Perry.  With the two Rising Dawn Saga books and the two Fires in Eden
books, a growing body of over 50 full page illustrations have been created
by Matthew for Stephen’s literary work.

In addition to writing two active epic-scale fantasy series, The Rising
Dawn Saga and the Fires in Eden Series, Stephen also saw his first foray
into the steampunk genre published a couple of months ago with “In the
Mountain Skies”, which was included in the Dreams of Steam Anthology
(Editor Kimberly Richardson, Kerlak Publishing).  Stephen is also a
screenwriter and director in the world of film, with a new fantasy short
film on the horizon in early 2011, “Swordbearer”, which features
professional wrestler Al Snow, and is based on the H. David Blalock novel
Ascendant (Sam’s Dot Publishing).

By the third week of December, DREAM OF LEGENDS will be available in
hardcover, trade paperback, and several eBook formats, for owners of the
Kindle, the iPad, the Nook, Sony eReaders, and other compatible electronic
reading devices.

Already maintaining one of the most active year-round appearance schedules
of any fantasy author, Stephen will be hitting the road extensively in
2011 in support of the Fires in Eden Series, the Rising Dawn Saga, and the
“Swordbearer” short film.  The third book in the Rising Dawn Saga is
slated for summer of 2011, and the next Fires in Eden Book for December of
2011.
